5th Years

Robby Hoag

Robby is a 5th year member in the studio from Council Bluffs, Iowa. In his time at Iowa he has performed in Concert Band, JRE, University Band, Trombone Choir, The Iowa Pep Band and has been a section leader in the HMB for 4 years. He is currently finishing his degree in Trombone performance and is obtaining a minor in Psychology. He also attended the International Trombone festival this past summer with a few members of the studio.

Jake Greenlee

Jake Greenlee is a fifth-year student at the University of Iowa pursuing a B.M. in Trombone Performance. He is from Coralville, Iowa. Jake began playing tenor trombone in 5th grade and continued on to play at Iowa City West High School. He was a member of concert, jazz, and marching bands directed by Rob Medd and Rich Medd. In his senior year of high school, Jake began studying under then-DMA Dr. Austin Seybert. In that year, Jake was selected to the 4A Iowa All-State Jazz Band and committed to the University of Iowa. At the University Jake continued his trombone and Jazz education under MA Matthew Halbert, Dr. Jonathan Allen, and Dr. Damani Phillips. Jake has performed as a member of multiple University ensembles and organizations, such as Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, the Hawkeye Marching Band, and Johnson County Landmark. He is currently one of the Hawkeye Marching Band’s Band Managers. Within the University of Iowa Trombone Studio, Jake has been a committed member of the Trombone Choir and had the privilege to attend the International Trombone Festival in 2023. He has also served as the president of the University Trombone Association. In his free time, Jake enjoys listening to music of all sorts, playing video games, and spending time at the lake.
