Iowa Trombone Octet
Dr. Jonathan Allen, conductor
The Iowa Trombone Octet was formed in the fall of 2012. Comprised of four graduate students and four undergraduate students, the ensemble meets weekly to explore existing trombone ensemble repertoire, transcriptions, and new works. Based on a taped audition, the Iowa Trombone Octet was selected to perform at the 2013 International Trombone Festival in Columbus, Georgia. Due to the generosity of the University of Iowa School of Music, the Dewey Stuit Fund, and UofIowa College of Liberal Arts and Sciences Excellence and Innovation Fund, the ensemble will be able to travel to the conference this June. The Iowa Trombone Octet will perform twice at the ITF, including a performance with Iowa alumni and bass trombonist of the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra, Denson Paul Pollard.
Members of the ensemble are:
Andrew Birschbach, Jessica Butler, Justin Gingerich, Shelby Kifer, Nathaniel Lee, Nathan Pettorini, Zsolt Szabo, and William Tollefson
